This course offers financial professionals practical insights about the strategic and operational potentials of a disruptive technologies and an applied introduction to blockchain-based finance with a focus on smart contracts and decentralized finance (DeFi). The transformative effects of blockchain technology in financial services and its opportunities and challenges will be discussed. Participants will gain experience with smart contracts on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), explore blockchain data, and analyze smart contract-based financial protocols. Through practical exercises, they will develop their own digital tokens and experiment with extensions such as transfer restrictions and compliance logic. By the end of the course, participants will not only understand the mechanics of blockchain-based financial systems but also acquire hands-on experience interacting with smart contracts in a secure, simulated environment.

Practitioners will share their experience in the application of digital assets in financial services and share insights to tokenization utilization as well as implications on compliance.

Prerequisites

To participate in this course, the following requirements must be met.

  • You must bring your personal laptop with full administrative rights. Company-managed devices are not permitted, as they often restrict necessary installations and configurations.
  • Your laptop must allow the installation of browser extensions (Metamask). This is essential for completing the hands-on exercises during the course.

Participants who do not meet these prerequisites will not be able to fully engage with the course content.
