Appointment of new Board Member

The Geneva Financial Center (GFC) announces the appointment of Giorgio Pradelli to the Board and Council, effective 12 May 2025.

The Geneva Financial Center (GFC) is governed by a Board that represents the many facets of the Geneva and Lake Geneva financial industry. The Board defines the strategic priorities of the Foundation. As such, understanding the needs of the financial community is central to its mission. This approach enables the Foundation to drive initiatives that benefit the Geneva financial sector and best meet the interests of all its members.

Giorgio Pradelli, Chief Executive Officer of EFG International AG and EFG Bank AG, will represent the Association of Swiss Asset and Wealth Management Banks (VAV/ABG) on the GFC Board and Council, effective 12 May 2025.

As Chairman of the Association of Swiss Asset and Wealth Management Banks (VAV/ABG), Giorgio Pradelli has extensive experience in private and institutional wealth management. This is one of the three pillars of the Geneva financial centre, along with commercial and retail banking as well as commodity trade finance. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA), he will bring to the GFC Board and Council his in-depth expertise of the topics that are of strategic importance to the financial centre’s attention.

Giorgio Pradelli is a member of the Swiss American Chamber of Commerce in Zurich. Given the current geopolitical challenges, it will be key to relay the specific concerns of Geneva’s financial institutions in this international forum as well.

His presence on the Board and Council of GFC contributes to strengthen the close links between the financial centres of Geneva, Zurich and Ticino, one of the major achievements of which is the joint approach made by the GFC, together with its counterparts in Zurich and Lugano, to the Federal Council in support of the “institution-specific” approach to access to the European market.

Giorgio Pradelli has been CEO of EFG International and EFG Bank since 01 January 2018. He held the role of Deputy CEO and CFO at EFG International and EFG Bank since January 2014 and June 2012, respectively.

After obtaining a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Turin, Italy, he started his career at Deutsche Bank, working in a number of senior management positions including Head of Private & Business Banking in Italy and Head of Business Development for the Private Clients and Asset Management Group in Frankfurt and London from 1991 until 2003. He then joined EFG Bank European Financial Group SA, participating in major restructuring and strategic initiatives, notably the initial public offering of EFG International in 2005. Giorgio Pradelli continued his professional career with Eurobank Ergasias SA as a member of the Executive Committee from 2006 until 2012.
