ChatGPT, Large Language Models, and Their Impact on the Finance Industry

This SFI Master Class will highlight the meaning and potential of new technologies like ChatGPT and examine how they are paving the road towards Large Language Models (LLMs).

Prof. Josef Teichmann (SFI Faculty Member, ETH Zurich) and Dr. Bastian Bergmann (Executive Director, ETH Finsure Techh Hub) will reflect on the main architecture of LLMs and elaborate on the form of "intelligence" and on the form of "language" that we face when working with such technologies. Crucial ideas from Machine Learning (ML), the very foundations of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the world of banking and finance, and modern philosophy will be discussed, providing a deeper understanding of the technologies and their applications, in particular in the financial industry.
